Short introductory sessions to Dungeons & Dragons 5e tabletop roleplaying game.

Join us for a special Summer Reading Program edition of the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center's Dungeons & Dragons Adventurer League program designed specifically to introduce new players to the game.

If you are interested in learning about D&D but never had the chance or were worried about being the only one who doesn't know how to play, this event is for you.  All players will choose from a variety of pre-generated characters and will be guided through a simple adventure that will take 1-2 hours to play.  All necessary materials will be provided by the library (dice, pencils, and character sheets).

For this special event, the normal program age limit will be dropped to ages 8+.  Adventures designed specifically with younger players in mind will be available for tables of pre-teen players.  Game tables will also be limited to a maximum of five players (pre-teen tables may go up to seven only for parents joining to assist their children) to keep things moving.

Experienced players are welcome to attend as well, but be aware that these will be greatly simplified sessions with new players in mind.

*** Please be sure to read the Code of Conduct for DDAL @ the MLCC and accept during registration. ***

*** While registration is not required, registration is strongly recommended.  Drop-in attendees will be seated at a table, if there is sufficient space. ***

*** Those interested in becoming a DM volunteer for this or any other D&D event, should contact Doug Fortunato at: douglas.fortunato@maricopa-az.gov ***

About the branch

The Maricopa Library and Cultural Center was first conceived back in 1955, when local citizens discovered Library Extension had books to loan. Volunteer-led for nearly 5 decades, MLCC matured along with the city of Maricopa, opening a state of the art building in 2021. Offerings include material check outs, computer usage, passport services, print/copy services, reference, and programs galore led by a hardworking team of dedicated library professionals. There’s even a USPS-contracted postal unit within the library, making it an easy way to complete life’s errands. Fulfilling a critical need for gathering spaces within the city, nearly half of the MLCC is carved out for meeting rooms for community groups, clubs, and quiet study. There is something for every member of the family at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center!
