STEM-loving kids ages 10-14 gather to build an out-of-this-world sustainable colony in space!
Join us for an exciting eight week adventure where creativity meets engineering! Astro-Innovators is a fun and innovative program where students aged 10-14 are challenged to build a sustainable colony on another planet, as well as a spacecraft to get there! Participants will dive into the exciting world of STEM, learning about engineering challenges and finding solutions, and will brainstorm, design and build futuristic inventions like those at SpaceX and NASA. This program offers the unique opportunity to develop vital problem-solving skills, bring forth creative ideas, and learn how to manage a project with a team while gaining a deeper understanding of the world beyond Earth.
The Maricopa Library and Cultural Center was first conceived back in 1955, when local citizens discovered Library Extension had books to loan. Volunteer-led for nearly 5 decades, MLCC matured along with the city of Maricopa, opening a state of the art building in 2021. Offerings include material check outs, computer usage, passport services, print/copy services, reference, and programs galore led by a hardworking team of dedicated library professionals. There’s even a USPS-contracted postal unit within the library, making it an easy way to complete life’s errands. Fulfilling a critical need for gathering spaces within the city, nearly half of the MLCC is carved out for meeting rooms for community groups, clubs, and quiet study. There is something for every member of the family at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center!
