MLCC is proud to host the Maricopa Arts Council's Inside the Creative Mind Winter 2025 Lecture Series!

Acclaimed Navajo weaver Tiffany Yazzie comes from a family of distinguished weavers and terms her creative expression “an endeavor to preserve family tradition and a connection to those who have taught me.” Her works are inspired by vivid color combinations and she employs both traditional and her very own contemporary designs. Her textiles may take 10 to over 200 weaving hours to complete and most of her designs are not sketched before weaving begins. Her works are much sought after, including being awarded the top prize in MAC’s Abstract Art Contest 2024.

About the branch

The Maricopa Library and Cultural Center was first conceived back in 1955, when local citizens discovered Library Extension had books to loan. Volunteer-led for nearly 5 decades, MLCC matured along with the city of Maricopa, opening a state of the art building in 2021. Offerings include material check outs, computer usage, passport services, print/copy services, reference, and programs galore led by a hardworking team of dedicated library professionals. There’s even a USPS-contracted postal unit within the library, making it an easy way to complete life’s errands. Fulfilling a critical need for gathering spaces within the city, nearly half of the MLCC is carved out for meeting rooms for community groups, clubs, and quiet study. There is something for every member of the family at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center!
