Join us for a day of movies filled with fantastic voyages, characters, and lands.

First, at 10:00 AM, travel to the fantasy world of Kumandra in Raya and the Last Dragon.  Raya, a lone warrior, must track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people, protecting them against an ancient evil.  This Walt Disney film is rated PG.

Then, at Noon (12:00 PM), get swept away to the wonderful land of Oz in the classic The Wizard of Oz.  Join Dorothy and Toto as they travel the yellow brick road, meeting new friends along the way, in their quest to return home to Auntie Em in Kansas.  This beloved Warner Bros. film is rated G.

Finally, at 2:00 PM, with The Neverending Story, young Bastian discovers a book about the mystical land of Fantasia.  When he becomes engrossed in the story of this land, which is about to be destroyed by the evil force of Nothingness, he finds himself entering this world, where he helps to save it.  Produced by Warner Bros., this film is rated PG.

About the branch

The Maricopa Library and Cultural Center was first conceived back in 1955, when local citizens discovered Library Extension had books to loan. Volunteer-led for nearly 5 decades, MLCC matured along with the city of Maricopa, opening a state of the art building in 2021. Offerings include material check outs, computer usage, passport services, print/copy services, reference, and programs galore led by a hardworking team of dedicated library professionals. There’s even a USPS-contracted postal unit within the library, making it an easy way to complete life’s errands. Fulfilling a critical need for gathering spaces within the city, nearly half of the MLCC is carved out for meeting rooms for community groups, clubs, and quiet study. There is something for every member of the family at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center!
